Given this c. 1900, 5 13/16" long, weighty, 1.1 T. oz., sterling silver teaspoon portrays holly and is numbered "12," on the reverse, it likely was one of a set of twelve month spoons, evocative of the well-known series made by Shiebler, and in a similar Art Nouveau style. This was made by Blackinton whose "sword through a B" mark appears on the reverse.
It exhibits fine die and finish work, with highly detailed holly leaves and berries filling both sides of the handle. The bowl is engraved "Baby" in fine, feathered script lettering. It is in superb condition, showing no evidence of use, having a perfectly shaped bowl and a fine finish.
