Stamped with the Gorham lion, anchor, G emblem, and the words "Sterling" and "Pat. 1897," this 7" long, 2.0 T. oz., gravy ladle is an early example of "Strasbourg."
It has a lobed bowl with decorated shoulders. Later versions of this pattern have plain shoulders. The interior of the bowl also retains some of its original gold finish. There is a script, Art Nouveau style "H" monogram on the handle.
The condition is very good. There is no loss of pattern detail, and the finish is pleasing. There are light surface scratches, most evident in the bowl, consistent with age.
