At 10 3/8" long, this knife is extra long, with this length sometimes referred to as "banquet" size.
It is a fully original example of Shiebler's "Louvre" pattern with a sterling handle that is so marked on the ferrule along with the Shiebler "winged S" mark. The blunt end, silver-plated blade is 6" long and is also stamped with the winged emblem as well as the words "Geo. W. Shiebler & Co," "New York."
There is a script "EFV" monogram on the handle.
The condition is remarkably good given the vulnerability to wear of plated blades. The handle is flawless and free of dings, splits, or pattern wear. The blade shows scant places of incipient silver loss along the margins and is without corrosion. The lower edge is slightly uneven, but overall there is a lot of life yet left in this blade.
