Tiffany's "English King" is arguably the most successful of all the American iterations of a pattern that has its origins in English style. This example is a 6 7/8" long fork marked "Tiffany & Co.," "Sterling," "Pat. 1885," and "M," this last letter indicating the piece dates no later than 1891. Consistent with the line, it is exceptionally heavy, weighing 2.3 T. oz.
It is in very good estate condition and without a monogram or removal. There is light polishing wear and a couple of faint knife marks on the backsides of the tines. The finish is appealing.
