Watson's die work was unexcelled and that capacity shows to advantage on this 4" long child's food pusher. It is a hefty piece, weighing nearly .8 T. oz.
The pattern is "Iris," an early 20th century design. The portraiture is high relief and embodies all the sinuous fluidity which exemplifies the Art Nouveau mode. The actual pusher is especially appealing in that it has sculpted shoulders and a pierced surface. The backside of the handle is inscribed "Martha" in script.
The condition is very fine. Pattern detail remains well-defined and free of polishing wear. The finish is nicely patinated. The pusher remains even and free of bends, but shows surface pinpricking consistent with use.
Marks are the Watson pennant emblem and the word "Sterling."
