Marked with an eagle and bust pseudo hallmark, along with the letters "G.W&H" this 1840s spoon traces to three premier names in 19th century silver manufacturing, specifically William Gale, and later the independent partnership of Wood of Hughes, all of New York.
It is dessert size, 7" long, and weighing approximately 1.0 T. oz. It has a down-turned, reverse tipt end, and a lined drop on the bowl. There is a feathered script "HT" monogram.
The condition is very good. The bowl remains well-shaped and is free of tip wear, although close inspection shows some light pinprick dimpling. The monogram also shows softening from polishing.
