While produced by numerous manufacturers, "Jenny Lind" is attributed to, and most associated with, New York City's Albert Coles.
This piece is an 11 1/4" long, 4.0 T. oz., coin silver fish slice. It is an exemplary instance of the pattern and mid 19th century flatware in general. The design is double die struck, meaning it appears on both the front and back sides of the handle. It is absent any polishing wear and has a brilliant, naturally patinated, surface. The feathered script "TK" monogram remains crisp and as finely rendered as when it was originally inscribed.
The pierced blade is slender, has a pointed tip, upswept back, and notched shoulders. The surface is extensively engraved in a finely rendered period design. Like the handle, this is free of any polishing wear and has a brilliant finish.
The backside of the blade is plain save for the three part Coles pseudo hallmark.
