A combination of glass and silver, this honey pot is stamped with the Blackinton emblem, "Sterling," and "x856" on the underside of the lid.
It stands 4" tall including the lid, and measures 3" in diameter. The jar itself is 2 3/4" high. The jar and lid both incorporate a rolled surface characteristic of a beehive shape, with the domed shape of the lid completing that look. The heavy, molded glass jar has a rim with a notch in it to accommodate a spoon. The lid (which is all silver and weighs 1.6 T. oz.) is fitted with a full-sized, three dimensional cast bee. This is fully articulated and finished in a gold wash, imitating the color of a bee and honey itself.
The piece is in outstanding condition. The glass is entirely free of chips, flakes, or cracks. The lid shows one pinprick ding in the lid, but otherwise is free of any defects, and fits as it should on the jar. The bee is flawless.
