Made by the same company that produced such premier patterns as "Love Disarmed" and "Les Six Fleurs," "Intaglio" stands with those designs as an outstanding Art Nouveau example from the early 19th century period. As the name implies, the imagery is carved into the silver, as well as raised up.
It is a floral, multi-motif line, with the name of the particular flower identified on the backside of each piece.
In the instance of this 7 1/16" long, heavy, 1.9 T. oz., gumbo spoon with a large, round bowl, the flower is a petunia. There is a lightly inscribed, script "SN" monogram on the front of the handle.
The condition is mint estate. Apart from light surface scratches consistent with normal use, there is no visible wear or damage and the finish is lustrous. Pattern details remains very well defined.
