A late 19th century figural design that features classical motifs, "Coligni" joins such storied Gorham patterns as "Versailles" and "Mythologique" in occupying a commanding place in the world of silver flatware manufacturing.
This example is a 7" long individual salad or fish fork. Commensurate with the line, it is very heavy at 1.7 oz.
It is in very good condition. Somewhat polished, there is some softening of detail on the design, but overall the detail remains distinct. It also appears to have had a monogram removed from the backside, although this is not readily evident. The tines are even, straight, pointed, and free of burrs or nicks.
Marks are the old Gorham lion, anchor, G emblem and the word "Sterling."
