An outstanding Baltimore firm, Jacobi & Jenkins had a short-lived existence, 1894-1908 according to references, under that name before being succeeded by Jenkins & Jenkins.
"Repousse" is a pattern long associated with Baltimore and this hat or bonnet brush follows along after that motif. It measures 6 1/2 by 3 1/4" with the handle by itself comprising 3 1/2" of the total length. The tip of the handle is engraved in a delicate, script "EJL" monogram.
The condition is excellent. The intricate repousse remains free of dents, splits, or pinholes. The bristles are natural, intact, and remain soft, although they have a little curve to them, probably from being stored against something that put pressure on them.
Marks are the Jacobi & Jenkins name and emblem, and the word "Sterling."
