Standing 8 3/4" and measuring 7 1/4" across from handle edge to spout tip, this silver coffee pot has a lofty, elegant look. It was made by Wallace whose emblem appears on the underside, along with the model number "1163," "Sterling," "1 3/4 PTS," and the additional number "8." It weighs 12.9 T. oz.
The body has a bulbous base separated from a narrowed neck by a encircling beaded border. The beading is repeated on the top rim where the lid rests.
The form is suggestive of a "Turkish" or "Islamic" inspired style often associated with Aesthetic design c. 1880, but this is later, likely early 20th century, and decidedly Art Nouveau in manner. Both the handle and the spout have the flowing, sinuous character of that design mode, utilizing leaf and floral elements to achieve that end.
The handle retains its original ivory insulators, while the sidewall has a script "CCJ" monogram.
The condition is mint estate. The body is free of dents, splits, or bends. The only suggestion of use are several pinprick nicks visible only on close inspection. The piece sits flat, and the handle is secure and has all its original pins. The lid fits snugly and has a fully functioning hinge. The finish is brilliant, hand polished only.
While likely part of a set, this would readily stand on its own as a utilitarian or decorative item.
