An extravagant server, this item is a true punch ladle with a pouring spout on either side of the 4 7/8" by 2 5/8" by 1 1/4" deep bowl. This is finished in a bright gold wash on the interior and engraved with an Old English "B" on the back wall at the handle join.
The piece measures a large 13" overall and weighs a robust 6.4 T. oz. The maker was Durgin, whose "D" emblem appears on the backside, along with the word "Sterling."
The late 19th century pattern is unnamed but certainly dramatic. Rococo in manner, it is comprised of a series of open cee scrolls interspersed with leafy detailing. This extends onto the shoulders of the bowl.
It is in superb estate condition, having no damage and showing no evident wear.
