Dating from the mid 19th century and marked "Duhme," a premier Cincinnati and Midwestern firm, this coin silver master butter knife measures 7 1/4" long and weighs just over 1.0 T. oz.
It has a twisted shank, with a broad, oval handle end. This is precisely engraved in a leaf and scroll period design and engraved "Craig" in script in the center area. The blade has a scalloped upper edge and is also engraved along the top margin. The backside is plain, save for the mark.
It is in excellent condition. There are no bends, breaks, or repairs. The engraving remains crisp and the finish is appealing. The blade is free of burrs, nicks, or bends, but shows surface scratches consistent with age.
