Identical in form to a hot cake lifter, and certainly suitable for that purpose, but slightly smaller at 7 1/2" long, this example of Stieff "Rose" is a tomato server. It is a heavy piece, weighing 2.7 T. oz.

The 2 3/4" diameter, round server is solid, not pierced, and has an "MLT" script monogram inscribed on it. The backside of the handle is engraved "1929" so it is a relatively early item in this pattern which was first issued in 1892.

The condition is excellent estate. It is free of visible wear, bends, or damage. There are light surface scratches consistent with normal use, and the finish is appealing.

Marks are "Stieff" and "Sterling."
