A moderately large example for the form, this sardine fork measures 5 5/8" long and weighs nearly 1.1 T. oz. The tine design is singular to this manufacturer, Frank Smith. There are six, all of which are wavy and all of which have trident hooks on one side. The serving end measures 2" wide by 2" deep, and has an upraised heel.
The pattern is "Priscilla," which dates from 1924. It is a clean design, with a double lined border and delicate shell and bow at the terminus, and in this instance, an Old English "W" monogram on the front of the handle.
It is in exceptionally fine condition. There is no visible polishing wear. The tines are even, perfectly shaped, and free of nicks, burrs, or bends. The finish has a natural, hand polished, finish.
Marks are the Frank Smith emblem, "Sterling," "Pat. Appl'd. For," and the name of the retailer, "L. Kimball & Son," Haverhill, Massachusetts.
