This spoon measures an unusual 7 7/8" long and is weighty at 2.1 T. oz.
A "Chinese Export" piece, it is stamped with four pseudo hallmarks used by "Wongshing," aka "Wong Shing," located in Canton c. 1810-35 according to one source, and 1820-60 by another source. Silver standards vary for Export silver, but it broadly conforms to sterling.
Export is also largely imitative of English silver, and that is true for this which is Georgian in manner, with a down-turned, reverse tipt end, and an exposed drop on the bowl.
There is a fine, feathered script "JTS SG" monogram set sideways on the handle.
The condition is outstanding. The engraving remains crisp, indicating scant polishing. The bowl is free of tip wear, dents, dings, or burrs. The finish has a lustrous patina.
