This rare food pusher made by Tiffany is a thoroughly charming piece with a theme that is fully consonant with its function as a baby item.
It is 4" long, relatively heavy at .7 T. oz., and has a 1 5/8" wide blade with a scalloped edge and top.
The handle has a tipt backside, while the front is etched in an oak leaf and acorn motif with a bird alighting on one of the branches. This is extensively detailed, with a subtly textured surface that appears to have hand chased finishing.
It is very good condition. The pattern remains clear, well-defined, and free of polishing wear. The plain surfaces of the blade and backside of the handle show surface scratches consistent with normal use, otherwise there are no bends, burrs, nicks, or other marring.
Marks are "Tiffany & Co., "Sterling," and "m," this last letter being a date mark used 1907-47.
Tiffany also produced a kindred piece with a squirrel amid the oak leaves, and while information about the origin of these designs is not readily available, they well represent a company who name is synonymous with quality.
