This collapsible shaving brush made by Gorham is illustrated in the company catalog of 1906 (see image 2).
It measures 6" long when fully assembled, and 3 1/8" when folded up. Solid sterling, the holder and perforated cap weigh .7 T. oz. combined, while the base and brush together weigh another .7 T. oz.
The body is a high relief floral and leaf repousse design. There is a central reserve which is engraved with an embellished script "TB" monogram.
The natural bristle brush stores inside the main tube and then inserts into the base which has a notched fitting to secure it.
It is in very good condition. The chasing retains clear detail. It is free of polishing wear, pinholes, or dents. There is some unevenness of the surface around the monogram and similarly so on the top of the lid. The finish has a fine patina. The brush is intact and without visible loss of bristles.
Marks are Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," the model number "C 75," and a "4" appearing on the lip of the body. The word "Sterling" is stamped on the brush base and the underside of the lid.
