A stand out Renaissance Revival design, Gorham's "Raphael" dates from 1874. It features a dense, arabesque background with a central bird with upraised wings. There is a large, shield shaped reserve area, which in this instance has an Old English "W" monogram.
This example is a 6 1/8" long, just over 1.0 T. oz., sugar spoon.
The vee shaped bowl with clipped shoulders is used on all the serving spoons throughout the line, and in this instance has a matte finish gold wash on the interior and a bright gold finish on the backside.
It is in mint estate condition. There is no visible wear nor any damage. Every detail of the pattern remains crisp and sharply defined.
Marks are Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," and "Pat-74."
