This 6 1/4" long, 1.0 T. oz., sauce ladle exhibits all the fine qualities associated with Arthur Stone hand crafted silver.
Expressive of the Arts & Crafts sensibility, it is a clean and straightforward piece. It borrows its name, "Hanoverian," and design inspiration from an early English style, and consistent with that, features a midrib along the front side of the softly tipt end handle.
The entire piece evidences subtlety and an notably high degree of refinement. For example, there is a slight point on the front lip of the bowl, which also has a pair of knob-like shoulders.
The backside of the bowl shows gentle hammering marks, while the rest of the piece has a smooth surface. The overall finish has a brilliant, even, polish.
An estate piece, this appears to be essentially unused, showing no wear.
Marks are "Stone with a hammer," "Sterling," and a sideways "B" for studio craftsman Charles Brown.
