A multi-motif design that incorporates various flowers on different pieces of the line, Alvin's "Majestic" dates from 1900. It is decidedly Art Nouveau in manner, apropos of the period.
This example is a 6 1/16" long, relatively weighty, 1.1 T. oz., almond scoop.
The flower is "buttercup," which is gracefully arrayed on both the front and back sides of the handle. The pattern shows fine die work and finish, and is set in high, sculptural-like, relief.
The bowl is generously proportioned at 2 1/4" long by 1 5/8" at the widest. It splays outward and has three rounded lobes at the outer edge, and slight flanges on the shoulders. It is a form that Alvin carried through to larger pieces in this pattern.
This is without a monogram or removal and in superb condition. It is free of polishing wear and has a brilliant finish. The bowl is without dents, burrs, or nicks.
Marks are the Alvin emblem, "Sterling," "Patent," and the name of the retailer, "Jobe & Rose Co." of Birmingham, Alabama.
