Slightly smaller than regular teaspoons, and larger than coffee spoons, "5 O'Clocks" were used when late afternoon tea was an established social custom.
This matched set of six measure 5 5/16" and weigh 3.2 T. oz. the group.
They were made by Frank Smith in his early twentieth century "Newport Shell" pattern, and are marked with the company standing lion emblem, "Sterling," and "Pat-d."
The are in exceptionally clean estate condition, and without monograms or removals. There is no visible polishing wear, the bowls are free of dents or nicks, and the finishes are brilliant.
