This 7 3/8" long, slightly over 1.0 T. oz., youth knife is an early example of "Bead."
It is stamped "Gorham & Co.," "Patent 1861" and "Coin" on the backside of the blade, and is engraved "Bertha" in Old English lettering on the front of the handle.
Solid silver, it has a flat handle and blunt end blade. The pattern is raised and appears on both sides of the handle.
It is in very good condition, free of polishing wear and with a blade that is free of nicks or burrs. There are light surface scratches consistent with age, and two spots, one to the left of the name, and one on the blade, that show shallow vertical scuff marks.
