Each of these footed drinking vessels measures 5 1/4" high, has a top span of 2 3/4", and a base diameter of 2 7/16". One weighs 3.9 T. oz., and the other 4.1 T. oz.

Made by Gorham circa 1865, they are coin silver and stamped with that company's "lion, anchor, G" emblem on the undersides.

They are identical except for the round, applied medallion that adorns the wall of each piece. One of these has a female figure and the other a male figure. These are cast, very finely executed, precisely detailed, and without polishing wear.

In addition to the medallions, these are hand chased in an intricate period design that includes acanthus leaves, floral rosettes, leaves, and a variety of stippling, cross hatching, and lined detail.

There is a reserve on the wall opposite the medallions, which is engraved "Gridley." in script on both pieces.

The interiors have deep, bronze colored gold, finishes, and applied beaded rims and knurling on the tiered bases.

They are in mint estate condition. Both pieces sit evenly. The engraving remains sharp and well-defined, and the finishes are bright.
