An early production piece, this item made by Gorham is stamped with the company's "lion, anchor, G" emblem and the word "Sterling."

The pattern is "Buttercup," issued in 1899. Featuring an array of delicate blossoms and leaves, it exhibits the abundance of expression characteristic of Art Nouveau design.

This piece is a 4 5/8" long, .6 T. oz., nut spoon or bon bon.

It has a gold finish, pierced bowl with a flange rim and decorated shoulders. This last feature is found only on older pieces. Later examples have plain shoulders.

This is in mint condition, showing no wear whatsoever and having a bright, original finish.
