A large item measuring 8 1/2" long and weighing 3.1 T. oz., this form is commonly identified as a pea spoon, used for serving those or other vegetables.

Its defining character is a large, 3" diameter in this instance, pierced, serving bowl.

As is typical of the rose and scroll motif of the pattern, Towle's "Old English," the bowl is highly decorated, showing a dense cluster of raised flowers, a narrow flange edge, and a bright gold finish front and back sides.

This is without a monogram or removal, and in choice estate condition. Polishing wear is nil and the finish is bright. The bowl is free of bends, breaks in the piercing, or wear on the gold.

Marks are the Towle "lion in a T" emblem, "Sterling," "Pat. 1892," and the name of the retailer, New York City's prestigious "Black, Starr & Frost."
