Measuring 9 1/8" long and weighing T. oz., this meat skewer tells several tales.

First it was made by Tuttle who stands in the Arts & Crafts tradition and was known for replicating old silver. Consistent with this, it is stamped "Sterling" over "5" over "Dublin - 1796" over "Reproduction," thus the inspiration for the design is fully documented.

Secondly Tuttle used an unusual marking system that includes a "tree in a circle of dots," commonly with a crescent moon that includes the initials of the sitting US President at the time the piece was made. This has all that and the initials are "DE" for Dwight Eisenhower, with a "I" for his first term, 1952-56.

This date is consistent with the third part of the tale, which is the inscription, which includes a block, period style, "H over R*E," "Decbre 25, 1955" set sideways in script, and again in block lettering "H over D*M."

This piece was apparently a Christmas, and given Tuttle's prominence at the time, of considerable quality.

It is in very good condition, free of bends or marring on the beveled edge blade. The tip has a bit of a burr, which is true as well of two spots on the open, circular top end of the piece.
