A very large item measuring 10 3/4" long overall, with a blade that is 5" by 2 1/2" at the widest, and weighing 4.1 T. oz., this solid silver pie server traces to the Boston Arts & Crafts movement as it existed during the first half of the twentieth century.

It is stamped "KLF & Son" and "Sterling" for the renowned Finnish born and trained silversmith Karl F. Leinonen, who headed the (Boston) Handicraft Shop from 1901 to at least 1932.

The design of this is in the manner of Georg Jensen, in this case having a wrapped around end that encases a flower, creating a motif that is similar to Jensen's "Blossom" pattern.

The handle is a plain, tapered, band, with a crossbar element near the junction with the flat, unadorned, blade.

Overall the piece presents with the cleanness and strong statement of form that characterizes hand forged, Arts & Crafts work.

It is in outstanding condition, with the only sign of use being light surface scratches consistent with age. There are no bends, nicks, or burrs, and the finish is warm and even.
