A Boston firm rooted in the Arts & Crafts tradition, Tuttle was known for its old English reproduction items, as well as its novel marking system.

The firm adopted the custom of identifying the year of manufacture of its pieces by imprinting them with the initials, set in a crescent, of the sitting President of the United States, beginning with the term of Calvin Coolidge.

This 5 1/8" long, quite heavy at approximately 1.7 T. oz., and consequently heavy gauge, sauce or cream ladle is stamped "JFK," for John F. Kennedy, dating it 1961-63. It is also marked with Tuttle's "pinetree" emblem and "Sterling."

The pattern, "Colonial Fiddle," is Tuttle's first full line of flatware and is a "Reverse Tipt" design.

Never monogrammed, it is in very fine condition. It appears to have seen very little use and has a bright, even, finish.
