A very early example of Gorham's "Chantilly," marked "lion, anchor, G," "Sterling," and "Pat. 1895," this olive spoon is the long version, measuring 8 1/2" and weighing 1.0 T. oz.

There are subtle aspects to the reticulated bowl that confirm the age of this. Having a shape that mimics an olive spoon, it has notched and chamfered shoulders, and a pointed and upturned end. The soft, satin matte, finish has a pale gold wash on front and back surfaces.

There is a flowing script "SS" monogram on the handle obverse.

It is in mint estate condition, showing no evident polishing wear, surface marring, or other signs of use. The patina is bright and warm.
