Replete with design elements that are expressive of its name, Gorham's "Old Baronial" incorporates acanthus leaves, clusters of fruit, a shell, and commandingly, a lion's face at the tip of the handle end.

This example of the pattern is a solid silver tomato server that measures 6 3/8" long and weighs a substantial 1.6 T. oz.

The defining feature of the piece is an approximately 2 5/8" by 2 5/8", flat, reticulated server, with in this instance, raised shoulders with high relief acanthus leaf detailing.

Never monogrammed, it is in choice condition, free of any polishing wear and having a bright, even, finish. The blade is without bends, burrs, or cracks in the reticulation.

Marks are Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," and "Pat. 1898."
