True dinner length at 7 1/2", and substantial weight at 1.8 T. oz., this fork was made by Gorham, whose "lion, anchor, G" emblem and "Sterling" appear on the handle reverse, along with the name of the retailer, "T.E. Thompson," Galveston, Texas.

The pattern is "Fontainebleau" issued in 1882. It features a variety of figures drawn from the court of French King "Francis I."

The image in this instance is of a young man in period garb carrying a tray with a roasted bird on it.

This particular piece is engraved "Lillian" in script on the handle reverse.

It is in very good condition, retaining clear and well-defined pattern detail. The tines are straight and even, but show a bit of tip wear and some shallow knife cuts on the backsides. The finish is softly patinated.
