An early line pattern first issued in 1861 to a coin silver standard, "Cottage" continued in production for many years, through Gorham's transition to sterling in 1868.

This 8 1/2" long, 2.3 T. oz, pie server is marked with the company's "lion, anchor, G" emblem and "Sterling," indicating it dates post 1868.

It has a triangular shaped serving end, with a cupped heel and flanged shoulders and edges. The surface is engraved in an anthemion, leaf and flower, period design.

Never monogrammed, it is in outstanding condition. Apart from slight polishing softening of the engraving, along with surface scratches on the blade, there are no signs of use or wear. The finish is bright and even.
