Issued in 1896, "Marechal Niel" shows the kind of expressive Art Nouveau characteristics that came to full expression in the first decade of the 20th century.

The pattern's high relief, rose motif extends from the handle onto the front side heel of the blade of this solid silver, 7" long, relatively heavy 1.3 T. oz., master butter knife.

Having a delicate, feathered script "HW" monogram set sideways on the handle front, it remains in excellent condition. There is soft polishing wear and surface scratches consistent with gentle use, particularly on the blade, while the finish is bright and even. The blade remains flat and is without bends, nicks, or burrs.

Marks are Durgin's "D" emblem and the word "Sterling."

Please note: additional flatware pieces in this pattern are available.
