HOLD

Measuring 11 1/2" long and weighing a robust 4.2 T. oz., this spoon is a long handle salad server, but could readily function as a platter or stuffing spoon.

Marked with Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," and "Pat. 1885," the pattern is "St. Cloud."

Designed by Antoine Heller, renowned for his Beaux Arts figural motifs such as "Versailles," "Fontainebleau," and "Mythologique," this non-figural, leaf and anthemion motif hints at Aesthetic influences in such as a the tight, circular elements reminiscent of fern fronds.

The bowl has scalloped and rippled shoulders, is bright cut engraved in a design that echoes the basic pattern, and is finished in a bright gold wash front and back sides.

The handle reverse has a script "EW" monogram.

In flawless condition, this reads as if unused. There is no polishing wear and the finish is bright and even. The bowl is free of dents, bends, or nicks, and the gold wash remains intact.
