Commonly referred to as "Peony Twist" referencing the large, single, blossom that appears on the end of the handle, this circa 1885 pattern is also characterized by its turned stem.

Made by Whiting, this 6 1/4" long, approximately .6 T. oz., butter pick is imprinted with the company's "lion" emblem, "Sterling," and the numbers "24" and "2."

An original, i.e. not custom made, item, it has the narrow, twisted, and in this case gold washed, prong tip that characteristics this form.

The handle is arched, has a satin surface, and portrays a highly detailed image of a single flower.

This has never been monogrammed and remains in outstanding condition. There is no evident polishing wear and the finish is warm and even. The prong is free of bends, nicks, or burrs.
