An unusual form, this 8 3/4" long, 4.3 T. oz., pair of possibly salad, English silver tongs have large, matching, spoon bowl, 3 3/16" long by 1 11/16" wide, reticulated grips.

They are fully and clearly stamped for "sterling," "1813-14," with a "bust" duty mark, and "WK/SK," for William Knight II and Samuel Knight, London, presumed brothers according to Grimwade in London Goldsmiths.

They are a fiddle pattern with chamfered edges and a 3/4" wide arch which is engraved with a period, leaf script, "TCSA" monogram surmounted by a crown. The crown suggests these belonged a person of noble standing.

Extraordinarily well-crafted, these remain in mint estate condition. There is no evidence of wear or damage, and they retain a brilliant, hand polished only, finish.
