"Cherub" by Watson, Newell & Co. takes its name from the winged figure that appears at the tip of the extensively embellished handle. Employing acanthus leaf detailing, and with an irregularly shaped margin, the design reflects rococo sensibilities.

The figure is portrayed in two versions through the pattern line, one with upward facing, and one with downward facing, wings.

This 5 1/4" long, .9 T. oz., cream ladle shows a high relief image with upturned wings.

The bowl is 1 1/2" square with rounded corners, 1/2" deep, and has a scalloped rim.

Never monogrammed, this remains in very fine condition, showing clear pattern detail absent polishing wear, and having a warm finish. The bowl is free of dents, bends, or nicks.

Marks are Watson's "pennant" emblem and "Sterling."

See item 2768f for a matching sugar spoon (with down turned wings).
