This 7 1/4" long, approximately 1.1 T. oz., preserve or jelly spoon is marked "Sterling" and "A. Stowell" (rubbed) for the Boston retail jeweler.

The pattern is "Queen," which is one of the earliest designs produced by Knowles & Ladd, later J.B. & S.M. Knowles.

The design is actually a strawberry motif that portrays three hanging fruit and a leaf cluster set on a handle that is essentially an enhanced "Cottage" pattern.

The plum-shaped bowl is relatively large, 2 3/4 by 1 7/8" at the widest by 1/2" deep, and has a raised flange around the entire perimeter.

The handle backside is engraved "SAM to SJC" in script lettering.

In very good condition, the only signs of use are some loss of detail on the berries, this from polishing, and a bit of nicking on the edges of the bowl, which is otherwise free of dents or bends. The finish is bright and even.
