Gorham "Paris" Large & Heavy Sterling Silver Master Butter Knife

The pattern, "Paris" by Gorham, on this lengthy at 7 7/8" long and substantial weight at 1.7 T. oz., master butter knife was issued at the turn of the 20th century and reflects the Beaux Arts design sensibilities of the time.
Intricate and detailed, the design is set in relief and incorporates putti, a seated woman, and leaf and fruit accents on both sides of the handle and the backside heel of the curved blade with a scalloped upper edge.
There is a script "A.T.A." monogram engraved on the handle front, set sideways.
In overall good condition, with a bright finish and flat, even blade that is free of bends or nicks, the piece does show overall polishing wear, with loss of detail on the high spots of the design.
Marks are Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," and "Pat. 1901" on the handle reverse and "J. Wiss & Sons" for the Newark, New Jersey jeweler on the handle side.
