As noted by Dorothy Rainwater in her benchmark work Encyclopedia of American Silversmiths, early 20th century, New York City manufacturer and retailer Currier & Roby "specialized in the reproduction of antique silver holloware and flatware, mostly English and American."

Related they became well-regarded representatives of the Arts & Crafts movement as their methods of production embraced that mode.

This 7 1/2" maximum diameter, 2.2 T. oz., solid silver, over-the-cup, tea strainer reflects all these features.

It is English "Georgian" in overall design, having a gadroon border around the extensively pierced bowl, and with solid, cast and hand finished, matching, 2 1/2", Chippendale style arms.

In very good condition, this is free of bends, breaks, or scratches, and shows a rich finish.

Marks are the Currier & Roby "CR" emblem on the backside of one arm, and "Sterling" and "7" on the other.
