$46.00 Price per piece, 5 available.

Patented in 1860, and so stamped on the reverse, the pattern on this 7 3/8" long, just over 1.5 T. oz., fork is "Italian," which is very much a period design. It incorporates gadrooning, beading, leaves, and an anthemion tip, much akin in composition to contemporaneous maker John Polhamus's "Armor."

It is also stamped "Wm. Gale & Son" for one of the many partnerships of maker William Gale, this one dating 1862-66 (Rainwater, Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers).

Lastly, it is marked "Sterling," which is a standard Gale adopted earlier than most other producers, this being evidence of that.

It is engraved with an "H.E.B." monogram in Old English lettering set sideways on the handle.

In outstanding condition, this is without significant wear. It retains excellent pattern detail, has straight, even, and pointed tines, and shows a warm patina.
