One of myriad French classical patterns devised by renowned Gorham designer Antoine Heller, "Marie Antoinette" issued in 1890 is particularly reminiscent of "Versailles," introduced in 1885.

Multi-motif, it is rococo in style and incorporates an asymmetrical array of scrolls, leaves, flowers, and shells.

This example is a large, 5 1/8" long, and heavy, approximately 1.7 T. oz., pair of sugar tongs with solid, highly detailed, grips.

Neither the reserve area on each arm, nor the arch, has ever been monogrammed.

In superb condition, these are without evident wear. The pattern detail remains clear and well-defined, and the finish is bright and even. There are no bends, repairs, or cracks.

Marks are Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, and "Sterling."
