Reflecting an Aesthetic sensibility, the engraved "Lily" aka "Lily of the Valley" design on this 8 3/4" long, nearly 2.6 T. oz., berry spoon was a motif embraced by several makers in its 1880s period.

This is a particularly fine rendition, made by Durgin whose early "bird surrounded by stars" emblem, "Sterling," and the name of Boston jeweler "A. Skinner." appear on the handle reverse.

The rounded end, "Antique," handle has a satin finish on the front, and a bright finish on the backside, which also has a line script "TCRL" monogram.

The detailed bright cut engraving is particularly fine and crisp.

The large, 3 1/2" by 3", scalloped edge bowl (see image 2) has a flange rim and is embossed in an elaborate leaf and scroll design. The interior is finished in a matte gold.

This is in choice estate condition showing virtually no wear or damage.
