Gorham produced a line of specialty, cast, flatware, pieces of which were identified by a number preceded by an H designation. Items included large and small bon bons as well as a series of exceptionally large serving spoons, and perhaps other items.

This example is model number H156, as identified on the backside, which is also stamped with Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem and the word "Sterling." Immensely scaled, it measures 10 1/4" long and weighs an exceptionally heavy 5.5 T. oz.

The series embodies floral motifs, offered in a high relief, sculpted, manner that epitomizes the sinuosity and flowing form of Art Nouveau design at its finest.

The flowers on this include what may be large

poppy blossoms rendered as if churning in a strong breeze, along with smaller, perhaps apple, blossoms on stems.

The bowl is essentially round, 3 1/2" in diameter (see enlargement 2 for detail). The design cascades from the handle onto the heel and shoulders of the 1" deep, surface, which itself has a stippled finish front and back sides.

The bottom interior is engraved with a "KWB," extremely fine, lined leaf, monogram.

The overall surface of the piece shows a softly muted, gray, finish.

In mint condition, this has clearly been treated with extreme care, showing no wear or damage whatsoever.
