Issued in 1910, Buckingham bears a strong resemblance to Gorham's companion and immensely successful Chantilly line that was introduced fifteen years earlier.

It could be argued the two patterns are variants of the same design, with the former incorporating English style detail and the latter French, as intimated by their respective names. Buckingham is also more robust, i.e. generally heavier weight, than Chantilly, and often has more elaborated serving ends.

That is the case with this 7" long, substantial, 2.44 T. oz. gravy ladle. The bowl measures an oversized 2 3/4" by 2 1/2" by 3/4" deep, and incorporates atypical lobed extensions on either side. It also has decorated shoulders, which are indicative of an early production piece.

In excellent estate condition and without a monogram or removal of same, this is damage and wear free and shows a bright finish. There is one scuffed spot in the interior bottom of the bowl, which, while polished smooth to the touch, shows as a scratchy patch.

Marks are "Sterling," Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, and "Pat. 1910."
