Gorham issued a little known, often unrecognized and often unmarked, design named Imperial in coin silver in the 1850s and then re-employed the name for a different pattern in 1891, as found on this listing.

The later design incorporates a double lined border handle with a knob top. The central portion of the handle has a raised feature that appears to be, appropriate to the line name, a fleur de lis or the feathers in the Prince of Wales's badge.

This item is an 8 3/4" long, exceptionally heavy at 4.95 T. oz., sollid silver, rarely found, pea spoon.

It has a large, round, 3 1/4" diameter, cupped bowl that is pierced in a bellflower and dart design and finished in a bright gold wash front and back sides.

The handle obverse is engraved with a lined script "BN" monogram.

In choice estate condition, this is without evident wear and no damage. The finish is soft and even.

Marks are Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," and "Gorham Mfg. Co.," all imprinted on the handle reverse.
