$85.00

Designed by Antoine Heller, renowned for his Beaux Arts figural patterns such as Versailles, Fontainebleau and Mythologique, equally commanding St. Cloud is by contrast non-figural.

Its leaf and anthemion subject, with tight, circular, elements reminiscent of fern fronds suggests Aesthetic influences, which is in keeping with its 1885 date of introduction.

This item is a 6" long, just under 1.0 T. oz. (30 grams), ice cream spoon.

The bowl is lengthy and relatively narrow, and has scalloped and flanged shoulders. The front and back surfaces are finished in a gold wash, while the interior is bright cut engraved in a design that mirrors the pattern itself.

The handle reverse has a line script "ASW" monogram.

In excellent condition, this is free of wear apart from some faint fading of the gold wash, and has a bright, even finish. There are no bends, dents, or nicks in the bowl.

Marks are Gorham's "lion, anchor, G" emblem, "Sterling," and "Pat. 1885."
