Large Gorham Cottage Sterling Period Tongs

This pair of sterling silver tongs are 5 3/4" long and weigh a substantial 1.6 T. oz. They are large scaled in every way. The band at the arch is 11/16" wide, the widest part of the arms is 7/8", and the grips are robust. The pattern is Gorham's Cottage. It is stamped with a lion, anchor, G, and the words Sterling and Patent 1861. Each arm is engraved with the same elegant "LE" Victorian period monogram. The condition is outstanding. The form is perfect, with no cracks, bends or burrs to the metal. The finish is lustrous.
